Hello, I have an Audi A3 Sportback (Europe) from 2017 with (what I believe to be) a MMI MIB2 (not 2+ or 2 high) screen. I would like to use Android Auto on this screen, and I’ve read on several sites that MIB2 should support Android Auto. The problem is that I don’t see a smartphone connect option and the USB port in the center console says ‘charge only’ above it. Is it possible to add Android Auto to this screen without installing extra hardware? I’ve tried searching online but couldn’t find much information about this specific version of MMI. I’m okay with installing software using an SD card and taking the risks that come with it.
Depends on what you have. First check which system you have through the red menu. MST2 = no support. MHS2 and MHI2 do.

How do I check the red menu? What does MST2 mean?

To check the red menu, hold the ‘Car’ button on the MMI control for a few seconds. MST2 means your system won’t support Android Auto.
The systems can be patched respectively using Congo’s solution (A5OC MHS2) and more incredible bash (MHI2).

Is that a complicated process? I’m not super tech-savvy.

It can be tricky, but there are guides online. Just be sure to follow them closely.
You only have to swap out the USB port if it’s charge only and add wiring.

What kind of wiring do I need to add? Is it difficult to do?

It’s not too hard if you have some basic tools. There are kits available online that include everything you need.
