Audi announced the next generation Q5 a few days ago, which is expected to be on sale in Europe by the end of the year and globally in 2025 as 2026 models.
I still prefer the 9.5 exteriors, but the b10 exterior isn’t bad. The interior, however, is a completely other story, with the fingerprint and dust magnet that is the preposterously huge all-screen dash, the strange dorky 2000s Volvo steering wheel, and the crazy giant plastic button. The inside feels like a huge step back.
I have had some time to look at the SQ5 B10 and now believe its exterior design isn’t as horrible as I initially believed.
The B9.5 appears sharper and more crisp, but the new B10 doesn’t move too far from its design language, particularly from the front. I am not sure about the interior, though.
The one thing that bothers me is how similar all Audis are getting with the single rear-tail bar. This was incredibly cool when it was limited to a few cars with distinct styles, like the A7, Etron GT, and Q8. Audi appears to be following the trend of every other automobile manufacturer by including it in all of their new models.
I’m not a fan of the long, overrunning single LCD screen across the dash, but I really dislike/almost despise the floating square screen. That applies to any automobile, not just Audi configurations. I think it would have been better as a multi-screen setup, similar to the RS and e-tron lines.
B10 looks way better and newer I love it.
I believe the B10 looks significantly better than the B9.5, especially with the light bar, inside display configuration, exhaust, and drive selector.
Not a fan of the body-colored rear diffuser region.
And I thought the b9.5 sq5 had a round wheel, not a flat bottom.
The exterior is cheap, with the exception of the back tail light bar, and the interior appears wack. The long screen is cool, but I frickin’ hate everything else! Especially the shoddy-looking steering wheel and the central console section with its cheap buttons! The interior has deteriorated significantly, and the exterior is no longer appealing. Glad I have a B9.5!
I am in the same boat. Pick up my 2024 SQ5 this Thursday and I’m delighted I chose this model. Sure, the iPad look on top of the dash isn’t ideal, but almost every other aspect of this car’s interior is superior to the current model.
The B9.5 SQ5 looks so much better than the b10. The B10 SQ5 has no soul, just copy-paste trends.
Regarding the steering wheel: becuz the press photos are base on the German Configuration, a round or flat bottom wheel can be bought separately here. However there has been no steering help with the flat bottom since 2020 (at least in the EU). It appears that steering assist is possible with the B10’s bottom or top flat steering wheel; at least the config doesnt generate a problem there.
I’m in the same boat. Pick up my 204 SQ5 this Thursday and glad i went with this model. Sure iPad look on top of the dash isn’t greatest, but every other part of this car’s interior is better than the newer model.
