Help me decide on Q5 40

Long story short, the new Q5 45 PP is over budget, costing 56k out the door. I am getting the Q5 40 Premium at 45k out the door, and I liked the test drive too. Is 201 hp too little for city driving? I work from home, and my usage of the car is primarily for grocery runs, eating out, etc. I also have occasional highway trips, but only once in two months or so. That being said, I don’t want to end up with buyer’s remorse getting the 40 Premium, but I also don’t want to go over budget. What should I do?

It’s not too little power by any means for anything you’ll do day to day, but since you’re already thinking you’ll have buyer’s remorse, you probably will if you go with the lower hp model. If that price difference is unacceptable, I’d buy a slightly used one—something with 10-20k miles and the more powerful drivetrain would probably cost even less than the brand new 40.

I’m a firm believer that buying a brand new car is a waste of money. So if budget is an issue, buy a used low mileage CPO 2024 Audi SQ5 instead of a new 2025 Q5 40 PP, which may be around the same price. But if you really want it new and speed isn’t your thing, go with the Q5 40 PP.

Honestly, if you’re mainly using it for city driving and don’t need the extra power, the Q5 40 should be fine. Just make sure you’re comfortable with your choice.

Thanks for the reassurance. Comfort is key for me.

If you have doubts now, it might be better to wait a bit longer and find a deal on a used model that meets your needs. You don’t want to regret your decision.

That’s a good point. I’ll keep looking and weigh my options more carefully.
