I just got my hands on an A3 S-Line that’s got all the options I wanted except for the rear view camera. I’m really curious if I can get one fitted now or if it’s too late for that. Any thoughts?
I’m slightly confused. Where are you located?
In the US and probably the EU, cars made after about 2017 are legally required to have a rear view camera.
For the EU, it became mandatory in July 2022, but it seems like some manufacturers don’t include it standard.
I had a rear view camera installed on my 2017 Audi A3, so I don’t see why it would be an issue for other models.
I retrofitted one on my friend’s A3 facelift model. I used a used camera, and there was no need for calibration—just some coding, and it worked fine.
If you have an A3 8Y, you might need to go through the dealer or a VAG expert with an ODIS online account, as that model has SFD2 locks for the RVC.
