Partial hood clear wrap... what are your thoughts?

I’m looking for an option to protect my Q7’s nose from gravel impacts. I drive a lot and always get tiny chips from gravel on the highway, even if I stay far from other vehicles. I’m considering a clear bra—it’s not the prettiest option, but it’s better than those ugly black ones. What do you think? How much do you think it should cost? If you think it’s a bad idea, what else do you suggest?

I recommend getting the front bumper, full hood, and fenders done if you care about the paint. You won’t be able to see it unless you know where to look for the edges. Partial panels are a bad idea because of the dirt line that eventually forms.

That’s solid advice. A full wrap gives better protection and looks cleaner in the long run.

Costs can vary widely, but expect around $500 to $1,500 depending on the quality of the film and the installer.

If you’re looking for alternatives, consider a ceramic coating. It won’t prevent chips, but it can help with scratches and make cleaning easier.
