Hi all, I’m noticing a low-sounding brake noise when slowing down in my SQ5. It sounds like a rubbing noise, kind of like when a car sits after rain and you use the brakes for the first time. But this noise happens every time I come to a stop, even after driving a bit. I only hear it when going 1-2 mph and lightly pressing the brakes. It feels like the brakes are worn, but the dealer said everything looks fine for sport brakes. No squeaking at all. Just for reference, I have a 2023 SQ5 with the S Sport package. Anyone else experiencing this?
This gets discussed a lot here if you run a search. It’s pretty common with Audis. The SQ5 is mentioned often for squealing or squeaking brakes. I had a 2018 SQ5 that had noisy brakes too. You could try bedding the brakes. Some say ceramic pads help with squeaks or squeals.
Yeah, I’ve searched the forums, but I’m not sure if others are experiencing the same sound. I definitely don’t have squeaky or squealing brakes—just this low, faint rubbing noise at low speeds.

Gotcha, sounds frustrating. Bedding the brakes might help if they’re not fully seated. Did the dealer mention anything about that?

IDK what bedding means… what do you mean by that?
@Kai
Bedding is basically breaking in the brakes. It involves heating them up and cooling them down to help the pads and rotors work better together.
This is good to know. I’ve got a 2022 SQ5, and I thought my brakes were making weird noises too. Maybe it’s just a common thing.
Yeah, I wouldn’t worry too much unless it gets worse. Sometimes these noises are just part of the sport brake character.
