Audi Q3 30k miles service cost - please help

I called my Audi dealer for servicing, and they quoted me around $1800. They will do brake fluid, oil change, spark plug replacement, carbon filter, fluid top-ups, and leak checks.

Is this too much? This is my first vehicle, and I bought it pre-owned with 24k miles. Please suggest if all these services are absolutely needed. Are they overcharging? How can I reduce costs?

I’m also planning to move out and sell my car in six months. Do I need to do servicing at all? Will it affect resale value on CarMax or Carvana?

I recently had the 40K service done on an A4, and it included spark plugs, so I don’t think they would be due before then. Check the other items on the list against Audi’s maintenance schedule. $1800 sounds very high, but those are dealership prices. I wouldn’t advise spending that much if you plan to sell soon; you likely won’t get much back.

You’re getting ripped off! That spark plug replacement is unnecessary at this mileage. Your story is why I’m hesitant to buy an e-tron due to maintenance costs.

  1. They’ll check fluid levels and say they look good. 2. Oil change and cabin filter swap take minimal time. 3. They won’t properly check for leaks. It’s frustrating how they can charge so much for such little work.

Consider getting a second opinion from an independent shop. They might offer the same services at a much lower price. For resale, a basic maintenance record is good, but you might not need to do everything on that list.

If you’re selling soon, focus on essential services like oil changes and brake fluid. Spark plugs and filters can likely wait.
