Buzzing sound in car interior... any ideas?

Hey there,

Did anyone experience occasional buzzing in the interior of their Audi car? My car is an S7 from 2019, diesel, and I hear this sound from time to time, sometimes louder, sometimes quieter above the MMI and steering wheel. It is definitely louder when I turn on dynamic mode (with engine sound boost). The noise is similar to having keys or coins in the Center Console/Armrest Compartment, and when you adjust them, the buzzing sound stops.

It’s pretty annoying, and I am afraid to take off the plastics as I don’t know how to put it back or if I’ll damage something.

Have you had this noise happen since you bought the car? Do you park it outside or in a garage? Temperature fluctuations in the cabin can cause the plastics to expand and contract, which might lead to rattles or buzzing sounds. I wouldn’t take the dashboard apart unless you’re confident, as it could create rattles elsewhere. I haven’t had this happen in my Audi, but all my Fords had similar issues.

Thanks for the reply. I bought it used but only had 20,000 km on it, and this only started happening a few months ago, not 1.5 years ago when I got it. Yes, the car is parked outside, but there haven’t been drastic temperature changes. What would you suggest? Should I take it to Audi service? What should I tell them?

A decent mechanic can take apart a dashboard, but be careful as it might create rattles in other places. Do you have a video or an audio of this noise? Is it constant, or does it come and go? Call me an optimist, but it might just go away as unexpectedly as it appeared!

Thanks, here it is, I uploaded a video on YouTube to show: https://youtu.be/Q3O0NQhSZdk

Have you tried turning off the AC completely? You said dynamic mode makes it worse, but the car is pretty quiet in the video, and you still hear the rattle. Do you hear it with the engine running and parked?

Same with AC on/off. This only happens in motion, not when parked. It gets worse when dynamic mode is on and the gas pedal is pressed, but it also happens without it, like in the video.
