My second car is a 2017 A4 Technik with 67k kilometers. I drove an 08 328xi for eight years before this. The maintenance was ridiculous. What can I anticipate from the A4? Any tips are welcome.
Coolant pump/thermostat housing leak is a costly item that I see trending. AC evaporator leak. The cam cradle leaks.
Wearables include motor mounts, control arm bushings, and struts.
Timing chain strain, carbon buildup, a loose turbo wastegate actuator, and a torn PCV diaphragm can all be problems with increased mileage.
Oil changes occur frequently. Flush the brake fluid every two years. Coolant flushes help to avoid corrosion. Top Tier fuel will keep your injectors clean.
What kind of brake fluid only lasts two seasons before it needs to be thrown away?
It is the suggested interval for almost every car. The issue is water and condensation formation. Get a brake fluid tester. Read the presence of water in the reservoir. And you’ll know whether you should change it.
A coolant pump + thermostat are considered costly? Holy moly, I’d rather stay away.
We just bought this for my wife, and she adores it. The ride is smooth and enjoyable. Surprisingly decent gas mileage. I like driving her Mercedes over driving mine.
What made you switch over and how is it?
I needed a new car with current technology after owning a 2008 and was planning on getting a 2017 330i, but I adored the inside of the A4.
I am in the same boat as you; I came from an e46 325 BMW and then an e70 x5 50i, which suffered rod bearing failure and was a complete pain to deal with. It left a terrible taste in my mouth, so I opted to get a B9 S5 Sportback, which I adore. There are many parallels between the two brands, in my opinion; Audi has a superior interior, but the quality may be questioned. I already have a rattle in the driver’s window. So far, I’ve observed that the handling and Quattro are slightly better than BMW’s X drive. From what I’ve read on site, it appears that we will both have a nice experience owning an Audi.
