I’m looking to purchase a 2016 A7 3.0T Quattro. My boyfriend is pretty handy with cars, so we’re just trying to find out if there are any significant issues to be aware of for this model year. FYI, the fuel rails were replaced with aftermarket ones, which has me a bit concerned. Any insights would be appreciated!
There are no fuel rails on a 3.0T. If you mean fuel lines, that kinda sucks that they’re not OEM, and I’d question why they were replaced in the first place.

Might be ‘roof rails’ - either way, odd.
@Devi
Doesn’t have those either lol.
I mean, high-pressure lines should be replaced after any removal, so if any work was done under the lower manifolds (like the PCV), you’re technically supposed to replace the line.
I have a 2013 supercharged 3.0 and have had it for 5 years. Overall, it’s been pretty reliable. Besides regular wear and tear, like tires and brakes, I had to do the fuel door actuator twice (bad part design), wheel bearings on the front, engine and trans mounts, and I’ll need to do a few seals next year when I hit around 75,000 miles. Great car! I love mine so much; it looks much newer than it actually is.
If it’s the CREC 3.0T, then you shouldn’t have as many issues compared to the older 3.0Ts. The main things to check if they haven’t been done are the water pump, thermostat, and supercharger clutch (if you’re planning to increase power). Also, keep an eye on oil consumption. The fuel rail replacement seems odd, though.
@Kai
Thanks for the advice, appreciated!
Water pump and adjacent contents need attention. It can easily cost over 4k and should be done every 60k miles. Flush everything that can be flushed, and you should be good as long as there are no electrical or transmission issues. Also, check spark plugs and gaskets because if the water pump or thermostat needs changing, all of that can start to get weird for you.
@Fynn
You would flush the coolant at that age?
What are they telling you as far as the final price? I’m looking to sell my 2015 Prestige with 80k miles. All services done and newer extreme contact tires. Love the car, but it’s time to upgrade to possibly an S7.
I don’t like the back ends.
