Missing Drive Select on my A5... is that normal?

I have a 2012 A5 3.0 TDI, and I noticed it doesn’t have the Drive Select option. I thought this would be a standard feature, especially since it’s a 3.0 quattro and S line. All I have is the Drive/Sport setting on the shifter. Can someone explain how Audi trims work? I’ve seen less sporty Audis with Drive Select, so I’m a bit confused.

Which country are you in? Drive Select is often an extra feature in some markets (like Germany). The B9 models had it as a default starting with the 190 hp engines, but for the B8, it was optional. That’s probably why your car doesn’t have it.

Yeah, it can be confusing! Audi has different packages depending on the region, so some sporty models might not have features you expect.

That’s good to know. I have a 2013 model, and I wasn’t sure if mine would have it either. What’s the difference between Drive Select and just using Drive/Sport?

Drive Select lets you customize settings for steering, throttle response, and more. Drive/Sport is just a basic shift option. Drive Select gives you more control over the driving experience.

I’ve noticed that too! It seems like some trims have features that others don’t. Makes it tricky when buying used.

Exactly! It’s worth checking the specific options for each model year and region. It can save you from surprises later.
