I have spent my entire life driving a manual BMW. And finally switched to an automatic and a different German family.
And now for the weird question: does anyone have any better ideas for a phone holder for these cars? I’m not sure I like my present cup holder scenario. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
@Ashton
It disconnects for me as well sometimes in my city, always in the same places. Wireless CarPlay uses the 5GHz WiFi protocol so presumably something at that frequency range is causing the interruption.
@Lake
Those 2018-21 model A4 and alikes are sensitive. They fix that in 21 and newer infotainment. The sensors for the automatic doors are big culprits.
If you’re ever in OKC, report back. I’d be curious about your experience.
Funnily enough, the only spot it disconnects is on highway 75 from McKinney to Durant. It happened on the way there and back this past Sunday. I was on my way to a concert and the exact same spot, it occurred.
@Ashton
I have the same car as you. The CarPlay for me is fine, but I keep losing signal, from LTE to 3G for the Audi Navigation. There’s a non-stop pop-up saying to check connection.
@Ashton
Mine had that problem… until I changed my phone for a newer one… never had any problem since! (Did the same with my gf’s phone in her Q5… changed it and… VOILA! Problem solved lol)
@Ashton
I live in the UK and it disconnects often. Driving through Europe this week and same issue to the point where I’ve had to power cycle my RS6. A fix that’s helped is to use an original Apple USB C cable. It disconnects maybe once in 4 days now!! Audi service recommended the Apple cable.
I really only fancy early 2000s Audis, so not my wheelhouse, but isn’t that the whole point of CarPlay, to be able to mirror your phone on the car’s screen?
