I’ve already got a service appointment to address this issue, but I figured I’d ask here too. I have a 2019 RS3 and live in Canada, so it’s been quite cold lately. Sometimes, while driving at around 10-20 km/h, I get a ‘drive system malfunction’ warning, and it limits my RPM to 4000. If I shut the car off and turn it back on, it goes away and drives normally. Today, though, while driving, my oil temp was at 87°C, and everything seemed normal, but suddenly my defroster started blowing cold air. Then, within 10 seconds, my coolant temp gauge shot up to 130°C (red zone), but it went back down quickly and the car drives fine now. Anyone have an idea what this could be?
Could be coolant temp or sensor related. Are you losing any coolant by chance?
Sounds like it could be a faulty sensor. The cold air from the defroster might indicate a cooling issue.

I haven’t noticed any coolant loss, but that makes sense. Thanks!
Definitely sounds like a weird glitch, especially with the cold weather. Hopefully, the service appointment clears things up.
I had something similar happen, turned out to be a loose connection on the sensor. Might be worth checking that too.
Keep us posted on what the dealership says. I’m curious if it’s a common issue.
