15 August 1500 Check engine light appears. 15. August 1510 When I called Audi to schedule a service, they told me that if there were no power issues, I shouldn’t be concerned. 15 August 1800: Take it to AutoZone and have them run a reader on the light; they say it’s a “fuel sensor,” which could be a tank sensor or a gasoline injector. 24 August, 0800 Drop off the Audi for an oil change.Approximately 80,000 miles of comprehensive service, inspection, and check for the check engine light. There have been no significant concerns in the recent nine days. Around 2 miles from my house, I hear knocking/clacking; I text the dealership and tell them what I heard. 28 August 0700 - The dealership advises me to bring it back. Audi A4 - 2018 - Purchased new; dealership suggested comprehensive services at 20,000, 50,000, and 87,000 miles (latest mileage before the situation).
You may call Audi and ask if they could give you a discount on some of the repairs or even a used engine. I seen miracles when I worked at Audi, but they don’t really like to provide discounts.
I had a similar issue with my Audi Q3, had to replace the full engine, had a big fight with the Audi team, they reduced the price but still had to shell out a big amount, new engine replaced with around 2 months waiting period to get the parts, replaced with 2 years warranty, now i am trying to sell it off:-) and move to Toyota, a reliable car in the Middle East
It’s extremely troubling since it failed right after an Audi service. It nearly seems like they forgot to add oil or used the wrong oil.
A valve can get stuck, and a spring can break. It is too close to this service to be purely coincidental. It’s possible that the exhaust cam twisted a bearing due to a lack of lubrication. So this again indicates a problem with their oil change.
Everyone I spoke with, including mechanics in my circle of friends and family, quickly said… They all agree that it sounds like they forgot to put oil back in.
