What if Audi made an A8 Avant? Do the A6/S6/RS6 and A7/S7/RS7 already cover that niche?

I’ve been thinking about this for a while: what if Audi made an A8 Avant? Does the existence of the A6/S6/RS6 and A7/S7/RS7 defeat the need for one? Just curious what the community thinks.

An A8 allroad would be amazing, basically a low body Q7. I can totally see it.

But isn’t the Q7 more related to the A6? The A8 is next-level luxury with a different interior altogether.

Yeah, but the Q8 is basically just a crossover version of the Q7, so it lines up.

The A8 and A7 are very much siblings to the Q7, and the A6 e-tron is now more like a Q6 e-tron/Macan sibling. The Q5 is more like a half sibling to those, while the Q3 and A3 are more distant, like cousins.

As cool as an A8 Avant would be, it feels like it’d be a bit redundant with the other cars in the lineup.

Yeah, I agree. The RS6 Avant already has the same engine as the RS7, and an A8 Avant would likely overlap with that. Might as well just go for the RS6.

I can definitely see the need for an RS8 Avant Allroad GT. Why hasn’t Audi made one yet? Maybe toss in a V12 TDI engine while we’re at it. :laughing:

As much as we all want a V12, it’s probably not gonna happen with emissions regulations and Audi’s shift to smaller engines. Too bad, though.

Yeah, I wasn’t being 100% serious, haha. I think the days of big engines are pretty much over.

Same. The A8 build quality is on another level compared to the A6/A7. If they made an Avant, I’d totally buy it.
